Baseball

The original etching “Baseball” is a particularly interesting piece in Boulanger’s oeuvre. Unlike some of her other works, Boulanger has abstracted the background with bold blocks of color and geometric patterns, playing with the positive and negative space of the etching and giving a layered depth to the piece. She uses checkerboard pattern we often see in her work both in the boarder and again subtly in the jersey of the baseball player. Finishing it off with vibrant pops of magenta, orange and cerulean blue, the joyful spirit of this great American past time is brought to life.
