Boulanger Chien et Chat I

“Chien et Chat II” (Girls)and "Chien et Chat I" (boys) are two of many works by Boulanger where she explores the relationship between children and animals. Unlike some of her other work that use wild and exotic animals (the 1979 suite "A Chacqun Le Sien" for example), these pieces feel more like an Elizabethan portrait than the vibrant and feral nature of "A Chacqun Le Sien.” However, the compassionate care of the children and the trusting calmness of the animals is a relationship Boulanger has emphasized in her work time and time again.
