In a world of color Boulanger is drawn to the vibrant and bold, but the duo of “La Danse” and “La Musique” allows us to see the rhythmic geometry and intentional rigidity of her compositios take center stage. Without the use of color to imply a movement or feeling, these two original lithographs appear almost skeletal—giving the work an architectural feel that is sometimes overlooked in Boulanger’s work.
