La Canal St. Martin

Like much of Delacroix's work, "Le Canal St. Martin" pays homage to a place that is still relevant in the city's culture. Today, visitors can see the many intricate works of graffiti along the canal, as well as the large multimedia art space on its banks at the former municipal undertakers building at 104 rue d'Aubervilliers. Both Parisians and tourists alike still visit the canal, exploring the numerous restaurants that are built on its banks, or just watch the barges navigate the series of locks and road bridges, carrying on a tradition that spans the centuries.
