Mahler

The sometimes controversial works of Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, received most of their popularity after long periods of relative neglect. Much of his work was banned from being performed in many parts of Europe during the Nazi era. After the 1945 liberation, his music was discovered and championed by a new generation of listeners. Although his oeuvre is small in size, its scope, depth and complexity has allowed Mahler to remained one of the most frequently performed and recorded composers of our time.
